Capture The Flag 2011

E-mail Print PDF

It's the most wonderful time of the year!  No, not Christmas.  It's time for the annual SFISSA Capture the Flag/Chili Cookoff.  This year's competition will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011 from 12:00pm - 5:00pm at the Hollywood Women's Club, 501 N. Fourteenth Avenue, Hollywood, FL 33020.

Just like last year we will have two Capture the Flag competitions, hosted by none other than HackMiami.

Samurai CTF

This game is for those with little to no hacking experience and will be similar to the Samurai game we ran last year.  Each team will be provided with a virtual server and a common scoreboard website to track their progress.  The scoreboard will give the players a list of questions to be filled out in order to proceed to the next step.  The game will test your abilities in the areas of reconnaissance, scanning, gaining access, maintaining access and covering your tracks.  For this competition you will need to bring a computer with a bootable cd/dvd-rom drive, at least a 15' ethernet cable and a powerstrip.  We will have some ethernet cables and powerstrips available but quantities will be limited so it is best to bring your own if you can.  SFISSA will be providing a bootable Samurai at the event but feel free to download yours ahead of time to get familiar with the toolkit. Click here for all the details.

Kommand && Kontrol CTF

This game is for more advanced InfoSec professionals that think they are elite enough.  As with the Samurai game you will need to bring a computer with a bootable cd/dvd-rom drive, at least a 15' ethernet cable and a powerstrip.  We will have some ethernet cables and powerstrips available but quantities will be limited so it is best to bring your own if you can.  Additional information on this game can be found in this pdf

Registration

Both competitions require teams between 2-5 members each.  To register for the event please click here.

When you register, please specify what competition you would like to participate in, if any, and your team name. If you do not have a team, you will be assigned to one.  Registration is required to attend the event and is limited so be sure you sign up early.

Chili Cook Off

In addition to our CTF we will also be hosting our annual Chili Cook Off, which always makes the CTF event much more interesting.  Anyone can bring in their best chili to be tasted and tested by the rest. You do not have to compete in the CTF games to compete in the Chili Cook Off, simply specify you will be bringing Chili on the registration page.  In addition to the chili, SFISSA will be providing drinks and other snacks.
